What are the admission requirements for undergraduate programmes?
Admission requirements depend on the level of the qualification:
Higher Certificates: National Senior Certificate (NSC) passed with Higher Certificate endorsement.
Diplomas: NSC with Diploma endorsement.
Degrees: NSC certified by Umalusi with Bachelor’s degree endorsement, meeting specific subject criteria (such as minimum marks in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy for BSc IT).
Note: Equivalent qualifications, foreign qualifications evaluated by SAQA, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) are also considered.
How do I apply to Richfield?

Is there an application fee?
Yes. Richfield requires a non-refundable application fee of R800.00, to process student documentation and evaluate academic qualifications. This fee is separate from registration deposits and annual tuition fees. Current fee amounts are specified during the online application process or available from a student advisor.
What is the registration deposit?
The registration deposit is an initial upfront payment required upon acceptance of your application, of R2,700 (non-refundable). Payment of the registration deposit secures your enrollment spot for the academic year and is credited directly toward your total annual tuition fees.
Are international students eligible to apply?
Yes, international students can apply. The application process for international students is detailed in our current Prospectus
When does the 2026 application period close at Richfield?
Richfield runs multiple intake windows throughout the academic year, including early-year intakes and mid-year online intakes. While exact closing dates vary by intake and programme capacity, prospective students are strongly encouraged to apply early as places on campus and in popular online modules fill up quickly.

What IT qualifications does Richfield offer, and what are the entry requirements?
Richfield offers a complete academic pathway within the Faculty of Information Technology:
Higher Certificate in Information Technology: Entry requires a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate endorsement or equivalent qualification.
Diploma in Information Technology: Entry requires an NSC with Diploma endorsement or an equivalent Higher Certificate in IT.
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSc IT): Entry requires an NSC with Bachelor’s Degree endorsement, including required minimum achievement levels in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
Does Richfield offer a BCom accredited with AGA(SA)?
Yes. Richfield’s Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) programme is formally endorsed by SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants). This endorsement aligns the academic curriculum with SAICA standards, providing graduates with a clear pathway toward professional accounting designations such as Associate General Accountant — AGA(SA) and CA(SA).
Does Richfield offer an MBA?

What's the difference between a diploma and a degree at Richfield?
A diploma focuses on practical, hands-on skills for immediate workplace entry; a degree adds theoretical depth and is the required stepping stone into postgraduate study.
Diploma (e.g., Diploma in IT): Typically a 3-year qualification with an emphasis on practical application, technical execution, and hands-on Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) to prepare you for immediate entry into the job market.
Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., BSc IT, BCom): Typically a 3-year academic qualification that balances practical application with deeper theoretical frameworks, strategic analysis, and research skills. A degree is the required prerequisite for entry into postgraduate study (Honours, Master’s, MBA).
How will I be assessed on my undergraduate programme?
During undergraduate studies each module is assessed through a combination of formative assessment (tests and assignments, weighted 40%) and a summative three-hour written exam at the end of the semester (weighted 60%). You'll need a final mark of 50% to pass, with a supplementary exam opportunity available if you achieve between 40–47%. Assessments are written online through our Learning Management System, using secure remote proctoring. What are the payment methods available?

Does Richfield offer bursaries?
Yes. Richfield offers internal merit-based and need-based bursaries to qualifying students. These bursaries typically cover tuition fees in part or in full, demonstrating Richfield's commitment to widening access to higher education.
Students are responsible for other costs, such as purchasing required materials like a Tablet PC.
Are there any obligations after receiving a bursary?
After completing their course, bursary recipients may be required to assist the institution in their qualified field at any of Richfield’s national campuses for a period equivalent to the bursary duration.
Does NSFAS fund Richfield students?
Richfield students are supported through flexible payment plans, internal bursary opportunities, and partnerships with private financial institutions for loan financing. As a registered private higher education institution, Richfield isn't eligible for NSFAS funding, which is designated for public universities and TVET colleges.

How do I access the online learning platform?
Enrolled students access their learning materials, recorded lectures, digital libraries, and submission portals through Moodle LMS and the iEnabler Student Portal. Access is granted upon completion of registration, and the systems can be accessed via web browser or the official Richfield Mobile App (available on Google Play, Apple App Store, and Huawei AppGallery).

Can I appeal my academic results?
Yes, you may submit a formal appeal or request a remark by paying the relevant fee (R550 per module).
How are examinations and assessments conducted?
Assessments consist of continuous evaluations (assignments, practical tests, and quizzes) and final examinations. Distance and online learning students sit assessments via verified digital exam platforms or designated examination centres as outlined in the academic calendar. Results are published securely on the iEnabler Student Portal.

Yes. International students who possess SAQA-evaluated foreign qualifications, valid passports, study permits, and South African medical insurance can enrol in both on-campus and online programmes.
Is there additional support for international students?
