Bachelor of Commerce AGA Information Technology
Meet the demands of today’s digital economy with a BCom AGA IT that integrates core accounting principles with applied IT competencies.
About
The CHE-accredited and SAICA-endorsed Bachelor of Commerce in Associate General Accountant (IT) [BCom AGA (IT)] degree is a new academic pathway designed to meet the needs of the modern finance and accounting profession. Built upon the foundation of Richfield's SAICA-endorsed BCom AGA degree, this specialised stream integrates accounting education with high-demand information technology skills.
Students enrolled in the BCom AGA (IT) programme will follow the same core accounting curriculum as the standard BCom AGA in their first year. From the second year, students will replace Commercial Law and the traditional electives with Applied Programming and Automation for Business and Information Technology Governance, Risk and Compliance. The third year will replace Taxation, Financial Management and Management Accounting with the aforementioned IT modules, with no other changes to the curriculum.
Graduates of the BCom AGA (IT) programme are equipped for a diverse range of careers that combine financial insight with technological expertise. Drawing on competencies in accounting, automation, data analytics, and IT governance, graduates can pursue roles such as Associate General Accountant (AGA(SA)), Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Compliance Officer, IT Auditor, Automation Specialist, Data Analyst, or Risk and Control Analyst. Graduates may also pursue further studies toward becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or advance into emerging roles in digital transformation, financial technology, and enterprise systems innovation.
